If an Engagement Ring can be considered a gift (Birthday, Holiday, etc), it is no longer considered part of a binding contract (the engagement) and would not be required to be returned legally if a break up were to happen before the contract (marriage) were fulfilled. The jeweller himself said that prongs/claws can weaken over time and even fully break off if you keep having to bend them back into shape. My ring doesn’t catch on anything or get stuff stuck in it and it’s awesome.Before you buy another ring, I would try on a bunch of different styles and sizes (cheap CZ rings from Amazon) and wear them around for a substantial amount of time to see what you actually like.
